Animal Admission and Quarantine Rooms
Animals are admitted to the facility through a dedicated area that is separate from personnel entrances and equipped with dual-sided biosafety cabinets. After initial examinations, they are transferred to the quarantine rooms.
Rat and Transgenic Mouse Housing Rooms
Our unit is equipped with Individually Ventilated Cage (IVC) systems for housing rats and transgenic mice. With controlled inlet and outlet airflow passing through HEPA filtration, the risk of cross-infection is minimized and animal welfare is protected. Separate housing rooms are available for rats and mice within the IVC setup. The rooms are climate-controlled at appropriate temperature and humidity levels, and these parameters are checked daily.
A cage washer and an autoclave are available for sterilization. Animals are transferred into autoclaved sterile cages within biosafety cabinets. UV-sterilized bedding with different particle sizes is provided for rat and mouse housing. In addition, animals have free access to fresh water and UV-sterilized feed.
Operating Room & Stereotaxic Surgery Platform
For surgical procedures, the unit provides injectable anesthetics and isoflurane gas anesthesia systems. A computer-assisted and automated stereotaxic surgery platform is available, enabling precise targeting of specific brain structures while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues and providing high-precision outcomes. Conventional surgical instrument sets are also ready for use.
Vital parameters such as body temperature, electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate, arterial oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate are monitored throughout surgical procedures. After general anesthesia, animals recover under veterinary supervision in an intensive-care enclosure in the post-operative room.
Injection Room
A safe environment is provided for the administration of chemical or pharmaceutical agents to rats and mice prior to imaging, with or without radioactive content. Syringes containing radioactive material are transported to this room in a lead-shielded special carrier, and after administration, they are placed into a radioactive waste container for safe disposal.
Animals that receive radioactive agents are housed in IVC units located in this room until their radioactivity decays to safe levels. The room also provides equipment for monitoring vital parameters and the availability of isoflurane anesthesia.
Complete Blood Count Analyzer
Our facility offers researchers the ability to perform complete blood count (CBC) testing. The following parameters can be analyzed: white blood cell (leukocyte) count (WBC), lymphocyte count and percentage (LYM#, LYM%), mid-range cell count and percentage (cells that cannot be classified as lymphocytes or granulocytes) (MID#, MID%), granulocyte count and percentage (GRA#, GRA%), red blood cell count (RBC), hemoglobin (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin and concentration (MCH, MCHC), red cell distribution width SD and CV (RDW-SD, RDW-CV), platelet count (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), plateletcrit (PCT), platelet large cell ratio (P-LCR); as well as platelet, leukocyte, and erythrocyte histograms.
